According to this article in the Los Angeles Times, “Nearly half of the scientists and inspectors polled at the FDA and USDA say businesses and members of Congress have intruded on their work.”

Apparently, the scientists are tired of politics in their work. What amazes me is that the author of the article seems to be unaware who actually makes up the USDA:

Islam Siddiqui is our chief International negotiator – he hails from the nation’s most powerful agrichemical lobby group. Roger Beachy is the chief of the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) – he was the long-time president of the Danforth Plant Science Center. I’ll let you read up on that. Then there’s the “Food Czar”, former Monsanto executive Michael Taylor.

Research the monstrous Food Safety Enhancement Bill (HR 2749) – yikes!
